Years ago Tanzania neglected education for children even up to the age of seven. When Carolyn Philpott, founder of Living Waters, first arrived in 1998, she saw this and held classes with a blackboard propped against her home. Her small classes rapidly grew a class at a time to be the school it is today.

Primary School
Living Waters Primary School was built in 2004. Up until now more than 350 children have been taught. We teach children from ages 6 to 13 years old (with exceptions) in Standard 1 through Standard 7. The majority of the children are from poor families. Therefore it was necessary to create a student sponsorship program in order to run the private school without charging enormous school fees. The students are receiving an English medium education equal to the private schools that need to charge the students expensive school fees. Some of the subjects taught are geography, social studies, civics, and IT, etc. The Tanzanian curriculum is taught.
The sponsors pay the majority of the cost of running the school. The students are only expected to pay a minimum amount so that they value the education they receive.
Secondary School
Living Waters Christian Secondary School offers Form 1 through 6, for ages from 14 to 19 years old. The school began with Form 1 class in 2018, then in 2019 Form 1 and Form 2 classes. In June 2019 Form 5 started.
We give special thanks to Cathleen Loge from Canada who had a special vision to work hard in order to raise funds to help build the first phase of the Secondary School building. She did succeed indeed! Secondary School student sponsors are being sought out.
Funds now need to be raised to build the Secondary School administration block.
Toddler Ministry
Toddler Ministry is for children ages 2 ½ to 3 years. This is to prepare them for pre-school. This class started in 2018. The children are taught the alphabet, English, numbers, writing, drawing, songs and games. They also enjoy chapattis with tea and a little rest as well. This ministry is held in the Living Waters School House.
Prep School
Prep 1 and Prep 2 is for the ages of children from 4 to 5 years old. These are held in two different classes, one following the other. The children are taught a good foundation to prepare them for Standard 1 through 7.
